There are many opportunities for voluntary service with the Society, such as

  • Helping to plant and maintain municipal gardens with Wilmot Township. There are over 50 such beds within the township.
  • Serving with the Flower Show Committee planning and setup for the Annual show
  • Helping with the Annual Garden Tour
  • Etc.

Volunteer Hours

The Society receives support from the Township and the Ontario Horticultural Association. The number of hours spent by volunteers is helpful to quantify the work accomplished in our Community. If you are a volunteer, please print out the volunteer form, complete it with your hours and submit the completed form after the end of the fiscal year in January.

FANTASY ISLAND

Many will be shocked to find when the day of judgement nears,
That there's a special place in Heaven set aside for volunteers

Furnished with big recliners, satin couches and footstools,
Where there's no Committee Chairman, no group leaders or car pools.

No eager team that needs a coach, no bazaar or bake sale,
There will be nothing to staple, not one thing to fold or mail.

Telephone lists will be outlawed, but a finger-snap will bring,
Cool drinks and gourmet dinners, and rare treats fit for a king.

You'll ask who'll serve the privileged few, and work for all they're worth:
Why, all those who reaped the benefits and NOT ONCE volunteered on earth!
